Training programs

Is there an assessment component for a training program?

If you are studying individual stand-alone training programs, assessment is optional. The assessment is a multiple-choice online exam which is included in your program fee.

How do I take an online multiple-choice exam?

Online exams are taken at the conclusion of the training program and consist of multiple-choice questions. These are automatically marked online. You are immediately advised whether you have passed or failed the exam. The pass mark is 70 per cent. The grades are pass or fail.

How long does it take to complete an online exam?

It is estimated that it will take you 30–45 minutes to complete each exam online.

How many attempts do I have to complete the online exam?

You will be entitled to attempt each online exam twice. The questions in your exam will be randomly selected from a bank of multiple-choice questions each time you attempt the exam.

Should you fail the exam on the second attempt and wish to sit it again, you will be required to re-register for the exam, via your academic record page and to pay the exam re-sit fee. This will entitle you to two further attempts at the exam.

How long do I have to access the online exam?

After you have registered in a training program, you will have 21 days to successfully complete the online exam starting on the following dates:

  • the date of the face-to-face class you have selected, if you are studying via the tutorial mode
  • the date you have nominated as your study commencement date, if you are studying via the online mode.

You are strongly advised to ensure when you register that you have the time available to study the materials and to complete the online exam within the 21–day period. Extensions will be granted only in exceptional circumstances and entirely at CSA’s discretion.

Certificates

Which of my programs are eligible for a Certificate?

For one of your programs to count towards a certificate course it must be one of the compulsory or elective programs for that certificate course and you must pass the online exam.

To graduate from a CSA Certificate and maximise your six programs, you are required to complete and pass the online multiple choice exam for each of the six programs, within the same 12-month period. This 12-month period commences when you pass your first program exam. After you have passed the exams for each of the five additional programs within this time frame, you will automatically graduate from a CSA Certificate.

A training program completed outside of the previous 12 months will not be counted as an eligible program for Certificate graduation or count as an exemption in another Certificate.

How do I graduate from a Certificate course?

If you wish to have a training program counted towards either a CSA Certificate, you must pass the online exam for that program. All participants seeking assessment whether registered in the face-to-face or the online mode, will be asked to pass an online exam.

Graduation from the Certificate courses will occur on the successful completion of the compulsory and elective training programs for the Certificate course you are enrolled in. You will receive a graduation confirmation email. Following the confirmation you will be awarded a graduation certificate and provided with a transcript listing the programs you have studied.

Do I receive prior study recognition when I enrol in another CSA Certificate?

When you graduate from a CSA Certificate course, two of your completed training programs will be available for you to select as exemptions if you enrol in another Certificate course.

When you enrol in another certificate course, you will need to go to your Academic Record page to select program exemptions. There is a maximum of two training programs you can select to use as exemptions.

We strongly recommend you look at the compulsory training program requirements when you enrol in a new Certificate course to ensure you select two programs that are most relevant to your new enrolment. For example, if the Certificate course you are enrolling in requires you to complete five compulsory and one elective training programs, then at least one of your exemptions should be a compulsory program.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
To utilise your two exemptions you must have passed the exam for each program within the previous 12 months.

How do I transfer between Certificate courses?

At any point of your study you may transfer from one Certificate course to the other. The eligible programs you have previously completed will be transferred into the new Certificate course, subject to the new Certificate course requirements.

To transfer between Certificate courses please contact Carole McElligott, Training & Development at the CSA office on 1800 251 849 or by email.
