Membership of CSA
A lifelong relationship for governance professionals
Membership provides the opportunity to network with other people who are doing similar things. There is always something that is not always obvious so it is good to discuss issues.

CSA as a membership organisation
CSA is the independent leader in governance and risk management. As the peak professional body delivering accredited education and the most practical and authoritative training and information in the field, we are focused on improving organisational performance and transparency. We also influence governance thinking and behaviour in Australia
CSA is first and foremost a membership organisation. Those who apply for membership with CSA, whether they be aspiring governance professionals at the Certificated Member level, or those seeking senior governance roles with our Associate or Fellow membership, have completed a course of study through CSA and have gained the necessary knowledge and skills at their level to be an equal peer of a group of some 7,000 members nationally. All CSA Members have also completed a ‘good character and standing’ process and agreed to abide by the organisation’s Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics. In this way, CSA ensures the consistent high quality of membership. As such, CSA represents its constituents through a nationally recognised peak professional body by proactively encouraging federal and state governments to create legislative frameworks that foster good governance practices and ethical behaviour.
Associate or Fellow membership
If you are seeking the practical knowledge and skills required to become a senior governance professional, you should seriously consider studying CSA’s Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance. Attainment of the Graduate Diploma is the educational criterion for Associate or Fellow membership of CSA, as well as to the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA), of which CSA is the Australian division. This membership provides the right to use the internationally recognised designation ‘Chartered Secretary’ and associated postnominals.
For more information on this membership type, see Becoming a Chartered Secretary.
Certificated membership
If you are an aspiring governance professional and want a relationship with an organisation that not only enhances and expands your knowledge, but also fully supports your aspirations to become a senior governance professional, you should consider our Certificated membership.
Successful completion of one of CSA’s Certificate courses will provide you with the opportunity to apply for Certificated membership.
For more information on this membership type, see Becoming a Certificated Member.
