Access to share registers
The issue of whether there should be open access to share registers of a public company is a vexed one. Many advocates of freedom of information would support open access, but already we have seen some operators taking advantage by targeting naïve shareholders with below market value offers for shares through easy access to registers. Alistair Jaque, Partner with Swaab Attorneys, contributed an article on the topic to the June 2010 issue of Keeping good companies.
